Body Polish vs. Body Scrub

Body Polish vs. Body Scrub

We're going to break this down for you in this really quick guide...

Body Scrub:

A body scrub is used to remove dead skin cells and cleanse the skin. Typically, the exfoliant included in a body scrub can be coarse helping to achieve the task at hand. At Imori Organics, we recommend using body scrubs on the parts of the body that can experience severe dead skin accumulation such as the soles of feet, particularly near the heels or ball of the feet. Since the exfoliator included in a body scrub tends to be coarse we do not recommend using it on sensitive areas of the body such as the face, etc. These rough pieces can be abrasive to the skin in those areas causing microtears and increasing the risk of adverse skin conditions like acne caused by bacteria entering those microtears.

Body Polish

A body polish instead is used to improve the moisture levels and texture of the skin. While it does include an ingredient to manually exfoliate as seen in body scrubs, this ingredient is typically less abrasive creating a finer/smoother experience. Plus, body polishes feature nourishing oils, extracts, and humectants that work to replenish the skin's lipid barrier throughout the exfoliation process.

Our Exfoliators:

In 2017, federal legislation made it illegal for microbeads to be used in personal or cosmetic products. These plastics would inevitably end up in water streams, affecting wildlife and polluting the ecosystem. We at Imori Organics fully stand by this legislation and, with our dedication to clean self-care, have never used microbeads. We typically use organic salts, sugars, and beads made from Jojoba seeds to exfoliate the skin as these ingredients naturally decompose and are safe for both the body and the environment.
